Ruth A. Bixler

HELLAM TWP. Ruth Alice Bixler, 92, died February 22, 2013, ay 9:01 p.m. at her residence. She was the wife of the late John R. Bixler. Ruth and John celebrated 48 years of marriage before his death in 1989. Born November 7, 1920,. in Hellam Twp., Ruth was the daughter of of the late Paul D. and Arlene (Horn) LeFever. Ruth was a retired secretary for Caterpillar Inc. She retired in 1981 with 29 years of service. She was a very talented seamstress and loved to do needlework and crocheting. She also made all of the wedding gowns for her daughters and the dresses for all of the attendants. Ruth was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hellam, a 1938 graduate of Hellam High School and was past president of the York Chapter of AARP. She is survived by a son, John P. Bixler and his wife, Ellie of Hellam; daughters, Ann M. Murry and her husband, James of West Chester and Grace L. Stout and her husband, Larry of Fairfax, Va.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Carlton LeFever and his wife, Connie of Ocean City, N.J. Ruth was predeceased by a daughter Claire E. Watts. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, Inc. 700 Hellam St., Wrightsville. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. till the time of the service at the funeral home. Pastor Tyler Miller and Assoc. Pastor Robert Brown of the Upper Room Missionary Church of York will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Canadochly Cemetery.
