YORK Sherman P. Reigart entered into rest after a brief illness on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 5:41 a.m. at Autumn House East at the age of 82. He was born in York on December 15, 1931, and was the son of the late Jacob H. and Anna L. (Myers) Reigart. Sherm was a roofer with JV Heidler Roofing, retiring in 1997 after 25 years of service. He attended Bethany UM Church in York and was a member of the Victory Athletic Association. He was a U.S. Army
Veteran. Sherm is survived by a brother, Carroll and wife Sue Reigart of Dixon, Ky.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Harry Reigart; and two sisters, Lovida Hess and Louise Reigart. A viewing will be held Sat., March 29 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Sherm will begin on Sat. at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ in Red Lion. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with a flag folding ceremony by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Sherm is fondly thought of as a very rough and tough man, but this is so far from the truth of the real person that he was. He was really a soft and gentle man with a big heart!
