Shirley A. Garrett

YORK Shirley A. Garrett, 73, died on December 12, 2012 at her residence. She was the wife of Harrison D. Garrett. The couple celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary on May 25th of this year. Shirley retired from BAE Systems and Wal-Mart. She attended Dover High School and was a member of Shiloh American Legion, Dover Fire Co. and Dover Ambulance Club. Born in York Co. on August 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William B. Black and the late Elizabeth Grace (Spangler) Grove. In addition to her husband, she leaves: two sons, Rick Harlacker and his wife, Regina, of Spring Grove and Terry Harlacker and his wife, Marsha, of Wellsville, three granddaughters, Jennifer Naylor and her husband, Jason, Emily and Samantha Harlacker, two great granddaughters, Abigail and Madison Naylor, one great grandson, Austin Naylor, two step daughters, Cynthia Heist of York and Melissa Garrett and her partner, Jackie Reed, of West York, two step grandsons, Michael Heist and his wife, Kim, and Ryan Heist and his wife, Melissa, one step granddaughter, Julee Bricker and her husband, Bryan, and seven step great grandchildren, Branson, Brielle, Jenna, Megan, Jacob, Jordan and Travis. She was preceded in death by her best buddy "Millie Girl" and a son in law, Michael Heist, Sr. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at West York Church of the Brethren, 5101 Darlington Rd., York, PA 17408. Burial will be private in St. Jacob's Union Cemetery in York New Salem.
