Thomas G. DeVoe

STEWARTSTOWN Thomas G. DeVoe, 79, died Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Barbara J. Egan Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Shrewsbury. He was the husband of Dianne E. (Overmiller) DeVoe, to whom he was married 52 years. A funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartown, with Pastor Howard Edmondson officiating. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the mortuary. Born March 26, 1934, in Pylesville, Md., Tom was the son of the late Ross H. and Emma M. (Moore) DeVoe. Tom retired from Dairy Farmers of America, Sykesville, Md., after 40+ years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and member of Stewart American Legion Post 455. He enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles, NASCAR, traveling to the mountains, and Tom especially enjoyed old western movies. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by two children, Teresa E. Ware and her husband, James of Winterstown, and Glen T. DeVoe and his wife, Kimberly of Stewartstown; and one grandson, Bradley T. DeVoe. He is also survived by two sisters, Jane Smithson and Betty Grin and her husband, William. He was preceded in death by an infant son, and a son, Terry L. DeVoe; three brothers; and four sisters.
