Virginia M. Hardesty

YORK Virginia "Genny" Marie Hardesty, 65, was ushered to heaven by the Lord's angels on Sunday, November 25, 2012, from Memorial Hospital. Born on January 25, 1947, in Lincoln, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Sophia Louise (Bosaki) and James Frank Vampola. She was a packer for York Classic Carmel. "Genny", as she was fondly known, was very friendly. She could start a conversation with strangers. She loved to play pinochle and was an engaging "chatterbox". Virginia will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Virginia leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Pamela Hardesty, Virginia L. Hardesty, and Rose Hardesty, all of York; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Richard Vampola of Omaha, Neb., and Edward Frank Vampola of Miami, Fla.; and best friends, Dorothy Sweeney, Bernice Chilton, Karen Richter, and the Williams family. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Foster. The viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, PA 17403. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1 p.m. with family and friends officiating. Virginia was a Gift of Life donor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home to help defray expenses.
