Walter U. Hill

STEWARTSTOWN Walter U. Hill, 75, died Sunday, September 1, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Regina C. "Jeanne" (Dutton) Hill. Walter and Regina celebrated 53 years of marriage September 2012. There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc. 19 S. Main St. Stewartstown, and on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Stewartstown Baptist Church, 18631 Five Forks Road, Stewartstown. The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Church, with Pastor Lee Peoples officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York with full military rites by York County Veterans Honor Guard. He was born August 27, 1938, in Stewartstown, a son of the late David F. and Eva C. (Wyatt) Hill. Walter retired from Caterpillar of York, in 1998 after 30 years of service. Walter was one of the founding members of Stewartstown Baptist Church and an Ordained Deacon. He had served on the Stewartstown Borough Council in the late 1970's and was a volunteer fireman with Eurkea Volunteer Fire Co., during the 1960's to 1970's. He was also a former Stewartstown Cub Scout Master. He was a member of Seven Mountains Blue Grass Assoc., a self-taught guitarist and enjoyed traveling with his brother, Bob, to Blue Grass Conventions during the Summer months. In addition to his wife, Regina C. "Jeanne" Hill, he is survived by a son, Gregory Hill and his wife, Susan of Stewartstown; daughter, Amy Windon and her husband, Frank, Jr., of Stewartstown; four grandchildren, Emily and David Hill and Jessica and Timothy Windon; three brothers, Jack Hill of Greenville, S.C., Robert Hill and his wife, Dollie of Stewartstown and Max Hill and his wife, June of Glenville; one sister, Rebecca Davis of Aberdeen, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Herbert Hill and a sister, Elva Davis. Memorial contributions may be made to Stewartstown Baptist Church, Building Fund 18631 Five Forks Road Stewartstown, PA 17363.
