William R. Callis

YORK William R. Callis, 63, died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at his home. He was the husband of Jacqueline R. (Deardorff) Callis, with whom he celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on July 12, 2012. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 29, at Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Service and burial will be private in Mount Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Richard B. Starr, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Starview, officiating. Military honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Callis was born July 19, 1949, in Roanoke, Va., and was the son of the late Clarence M. and Dorothy L. (Hall) Callis. He was a shipper/receiver in the food industry and had been employed by Bon-Ton Foods, Graham Packaging, and C-P Flexible Packaging, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Vietnam. Mr. Callis is survived by his wife; a daughter, Gwen R. Brigham of York; a son, Christopher W.M. Callis of York; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Megan, and Tyler Brigham, and Aaron, Jordan, Nathan, and Peyton Callis; two sisters, Sharon Smith and Brenda Hawk, both of York; and two brothers, James and John Fuller, both of York.
