Wilmer J. McGinnis

LANCASTER Wilmer J. McGinnis, 94, passed away at the Mennonite Home on Friday, December 14, 2012, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Kathleen "Kay" Hershey McGinnis, who passed away on February 6, 2010. He was born in Kinzers, son of the late Wilmer F. and Martha Keneagy McGinnis. He was a member of Calvary Church of Lancaster. Wilmer was a custom kitchen installer working for Bob Harry Kitchen Center of York, retiring in 1985. He was a Purple Heart awarded veteran of WWII, serving in the Army. He enjoyed playing guitar with local bands and was a member of the Central Manor Old Timers and 5 Friends. Surviving are four children, Ronald Gene, husband of Yoshiko McGinnis, Michael Dean, husband of Pamela McGinnis, Donna Sue, wife of Greg Markey, and Dale Hershey, husband of Lorie McGinnis, all of York; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service will take place at the Shivery Funeral Home, 3214 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, on Wednesday, December 19, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alfred Miller officiating.
