Serious players know that the game of golf has a way of defining and exposing a man's true character. Having played tens of thousands of golf holes with my great friend Marty, I can fully attest to the fact that he was a serious (and talented) golfer, but more importantly a true gentleman in the best sense of the word … unfailingly and completely committed to Lois, his children, his grandchildren, and his outsized circle of friends.

Godspeed Mart … book us a time, we'll be along soon.

Dearest Lois and families ... my deepest sympathy. What a very special couple always; an inspiration from the beginning. May so very many wonderful memories comfort you. I've included a poem of mine I hope may in some small way add to comforting.

TAKING TEA

Just remember when things seem much too hard

And life seems bleak with sorrow, your heart charred ...

The teacup got its handle through adversity and trial

For there's a saucer we all will rest in ... it just takes awhile.

For each life there is a pattern, at times it seems askew

But trust the Master's hand your patina to renew.

While troubles seem to crack you, imperfect yet still adored

Turn to Him to fill your cup .... and sip tea with the Lord.
