Humphreys YORK Carolyn R. Humphreys, 83, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Manor Care Health Services - Kingston Court. Miss Humphreys was born in Johnstown on January 13, 1930, a daughter of the late George H. and Myrtle (Butler) Humphreys. Carolyn was a retired art teacher with the Spring Grove Area School District. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of York and sang in the Chancel Choir for 42 years. In 1981, she was ordained as a Deacon with the church. Carolyn was a 1948 graduate of Ferndale High School in Johnstown. She earned a Bachelors Degree from Edinboro University and a Masters Degree in Art Education from Penn State University. Carolyn is survived by a brother, Richard Humphreys of York. She will be sadly missed by John and Sis Baughman along with their daughter, Karen Althoff. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jane Humphreys. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York. Officiating will be her pastor, The Rev. Dr. John E. Morgan. A private burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown. A viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
