YORK Charles E. Carter, Sr., 81, died Aug. 3, 2014 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home, York. Born Sept. 15, 1932 he was the son of the late Thomas and Marian Carter. Mr. Carter was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He worked for 20 years as a machinist at CAT York. Serving family includes his children, Connie Brown, Brenda Carter, Stephanie Perry, Charles Carter, Jr., 13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and his siblings, Benjamin Carter, Earl Carter, Mary Collier, Bernard Carter, Elizabeth Ritter, and Donald Carter. He was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly Perry, and siblings Esther Lovett, Joseph Carter, Raymond Carter, William Carter, and Theresa Holland. A memorial service will be held 12 noon, Friday, Aug. 8, 2014 at the Small Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 401 S. Queen St., York, PA with Rev. Samuel B. Means officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, PA. The Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg is in charge of the arrangements and online condolences may be made at
