YORK Charles W. Jackson, 73, entered into the presence of God on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, from the York Hospital. He was the husband of Linda L. (Barshinger) Jackson. Born on September 7, 1939, in York County, he was the son of the late Mary Ellen (Warner) and William Andrew Osborn Jackson, Sr. Mr. Jackson survived 21 combat missions while honorably serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era in the artillery division. He was employed by ACCO American Chain in the heat treating department. Charley, as he was fondly known, was a member of the York County Veterans Honor Guard. He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Linda Jackson; children, John Hamilton Demmitt, III, and Shawn Anthony Demmitt and wife, Gloria, all of York, Donald Wayne Demmitt of Dover, Lisa Jean Coons and husband, Mike of York, and Charles W. Jackson, Jr. of Windsor; and grandchildren, Kassi, Josh, Nick, Dakota, Jess, and Niki; a great-grandchild, Draven; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewing will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York. Service will begin at noon with Pastor Samuel Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
