WINTERSTOWN Cory Dane Haley, 24, entered into rest on Tuesday evening at York Hospital. He was born in York, the son of Earl and Dorothy (Armold) Haley of Winterstown. Cory worked as a machinist for Tate Floors in Red Lion. He was a member of the Winterstown United Methodist Church and was a certified Lay Speaker for the church. He was a member of the Winterstown Fire Company #45 and held many certifications including water, car and confined space rescues, hazardous waste, basement and rope rescuer, basic fireplace and FEMA. Cory also received the firefighter of the year award from the PA House of Representatives in 2012, presented by Stan Saylor. He volunteered for Dallastown Nursing Home. He belonged to Fitness Factory in Red Lion. He was on delayed entry to the Air Force where he wanted to be on the Para Rescue Team. He enjoyed skydiving, paintball and camping. Cory loved life, people and the Lord. A visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Winterstown United Methodist Church, 12184 Winterstown Road, Felton. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Keith Schmuck officiating, and also the Rev. Ronald French from Danville Trinity U.M. Church. Burial will be in Winterstown Cemetery. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Avenue, York, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Including his parents, Cory is also survived by his fiancee, Brittni Graham of York; his paternal grandparents, Luis Mercardo and the Rev. Kathryn Mercardo of Beavertown; maternal grandfather, Donald L. Armold, Sr. of York; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Earl Haley, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Doris Gibson; and an uncle, Rickie Mercardo.
