YORK / THORFARE, NJ David A. Davidson, 86, a resident of Thorfare, N.J., for the past 9 1/2 years, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ollie Ruth Woodward Davidson, and the late Elizabeth McCourt Davidson. Mr. Davidson was born in York, on July, 23, 1926, son of the late Arthur S. and Ethel M. (Bush) Davidson. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army with the 32nd Infantry Regiment in the Pacific during WWII. David was a member of York High School, Class of 1944. He retired as a fire truck driver for the York City Fire Department in 1977 with 21 years of service. David was a life member, past secretary, and president of Lincoln Engine Company #9. Additional memberships include the Shiloh Fire Company, Lincolnway Fire Company, V.F.W. Post 556, V.F.W. National Home, Local 627 I.A.F.F., Retired Fire Fighters Assoc., York Volunteer Fireman's Relief Assoc., and the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbury Heights, N.J. He leaves a daughter, Trudie R. Ilgenfritz; a son, Scott L. Davidson; a stepson, Marshall J. Woodward; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-great-grandson. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). The service will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Kevin Shively of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, York. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery with full military rites by the York County Veteran Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to a volunteer fire company of your choice.
