THOMASVILLE David William Johns, Sr., 68, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the York Hospital. David was the husband of Claudette J. (Scalabrini) Johns for 48 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Army as 1st Sergeant after 20 years of service. Following his retirement from the military, David was employed for over 20 years with BAE as a senior field service representative. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Abbottstown. Born in Trevorton, (Northumberland Co.) on April 29, 1945, he was the son of the late William Johns and the late Gloria (Reed) Roberts. In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Joseph Johns anf his wife, Kerri, of Cheyenne, Wy., and David W. Johns, Jr. of Abbottstown; two daughters, Christine M. Zinn of Coatesville and Ann Marie Myers of Spring Grove; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Sandra Tewell of Fairfax, Va., and Joni-lynn Beardall of Carolina Shore, N.C. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc. 2000 W. Market St. in York. The service will follow at 11 a.m. on Monday with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military rites.
