RED LION Donald E. Zumbrum, 86, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Sheffer) Zumbrum, whom he married on March 21, 1963, and with whom he has spent the past 50 years of his life. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013, at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with Pastor Sterling Walsh of Lighthouse Baptist Church officiating. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born January 18, 1927, in York, a son of the late Francis and Charlotte (Sprenkle) Greenawalt, he retired from York Intl. in 1987 after 42 years of service. Following retirement he had worked at PADE Auto Auction and Weis Markets on Haines Road. Mr. Zumbrum was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Mr. Zumbrum had played baseball for Hellam in the Central League and also coached baseball for Victory Athletic Assoc. He was a charter member of Kreutz Creek VFW; served on the Board of Directors for York Whites Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps; was a former member of Yoe Fire Co., where he was a Captain for the Fire Police; and was a member of York Co. Fire Police. In addition to his wife, Mr. Zumbrum is survived by two sons, John F. and wife, Kathy Langione of Tucson, Ariz., and Dunn A. and wife, Dawn Zumbrum of Dover; a daughter, Peggy A. and husband, Lee Harmon of West York; three grandchildren, Brent Harmon, Mindy Everhart, and Lisa Michael; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Charmaine Boyd of Red Lion and Patty Hake of Elizabethtown.
