Donald K. Eyster Obituary
LANDISVILLE Donald K. Eyster, 67, passed away suddenly on March 2, 2014, at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was the loving husband of Gloria J. (Hamm) Eyster; together they shared over 46 years of marriage. Donald was born in York, on September 11, 1946, the son of the late William Eyster and Romaine (Senft) Eyster. He graduated from Spring Grove High School class of 1964 and received a B.S in Accounting from Penn State University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and was honorably discharged. He worked as Controller for Armstrong World Industries Inc. in Lancaster for over 16 years. He then served as President, CEO and CFO for Don Lee Technologies in York for over 12 years and retired from The Frog, Switch and Manufacturing Co. in Carlisle as Executive Vice President, Treasurer and CFO in 2004. After retiring he worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for over 5 years. Donald enjoyed traveling and doing crossword puzzles but he cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving husband, who committed his life to his wife and made sure she was well cared for. In addition to his wife Gloria, he is survived by his son, Michael K. Eyster and wife Amy of Landisville; his daughter, Lori E. Martin and husband Jeffrey of Landisville; and his grandchildren, Andrew, William, Amanda, Ella and Ryan. He is also survived by his mother-in law, Treva (Copenheaver) Hamm, his sister, Judith Knight and husband John of York and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Karen Shaffer. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at St. Jacobs United Church of Christ, 100 E. George St., York New Salem PA 17371 followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Barley officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest at St. Jacobs Union Cemetery with a flag folding ceremony provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Family services are under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. of Spring Grove.
