YORK "Together Forever" Floyd Russell Eyler, 89, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home, York. Born on January 20, 1925 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Floyd P. Eyler and Ressa Russell Eyler. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as an Aviation Radio Technician. He graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology and Lancaster Bible College and worked as an electrical engineer for Bendix Corp. and Borg-Warner Corp. He loved Bluegrass music and played all string instruments and piano. He was a kind and generous person and brought much joy with his music. Floyd was a longtime member of Red Lion Bible Church. He is survived by six children, Paul (Dawn) Eyler, Carol Brening, Barbara (Ron) Emch, Kathleen Eyler, Wayne Eyler, and John Eyler; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Leader; his wife of 67 years, Evelyn "Joanne" Eyler; and a granddaughter, Aimee Childress. Interment will be on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, with Pastor Steve Schmuck officiating.
