YORK Glenn George Morningstar, Sr., 82 passed away at York Hospital on Wednesday, December 25, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Marie (Leicht) Morningstar. Mr. Morningstar was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on April 5, 1931. He was the son of the late George Albert and Rosa May (Einsig) Morningstar. Glenn was a Korean War Veteran and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Korean Campaign Medal, and had his name placed on the Monument of Valor. Following his return home from the service, he held numerous full time jobs and eventually retired as a correctional officer for York County. Glenn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed farming, genealogy, and was an all-around outdoorsman. He was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and enjoyed participating in Native American activities. In addition to his wife, Glenn is survived by 12 children, many grandchildren, and many, many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, and six brothers and sisters. A funeral service to honor Glenn's life will be held 12:45 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2100 Hollywood Drive, York 17403. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 12 noon until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with a flag folding ceremony performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard and veterans and Native Americans of his family.
