YORK Ivan "Bud" R. Foltz was born on March 26, 1931, and passed peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2014, at the Hospice Unit of the Lebanon VA Hospital. Ivan was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Gale Hill Foltz. He was the son of the late Ivan R. Foltz, Sr. and Mary E. Foltz. Ivan leaves his daughter, Emily Sindlinger, and her husband, Gregory, along with his four beloved grandchildren, Ted Sindlinger of Charlottesville, Va., Ian Sindlinger and his wife, Chantal, of Rumney, N.H., Grant Sindlinger of Central Point, Ore., and Claire Marie Sindlinger of Chicago, Ill. Others to remember are his companion of nine years, the late Mary Lou Stover; plus his sisters, Ethel Moore Hamm (deceased), Phyllis Jean Bievenour, and Peggy J. Mickley. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard a destroyer during the Korean War. Ivan was a plumber by trade but an overall handyman who helped many friends and family with special woodworking projects. He believed that anything that was assembled could be taken apart and repaired. He also restored many classic and antique cars over the years. Ivan and Gale enjoyed traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. Ivan was a member of the Shiloh United Church of Christ, the York Antique Car Club, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon #30, the Shiloh Legion and several other organizations. Ivan will be remembered at a memorial service on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh UCC, 2251 Willow Road in York.
