YORK Jack M. Bentivegna, 90, died Friday, February 15, 2013, at his home. He was the husband of Anna Mae (Vaughn) Bentivegna for 67 years. Viewings will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., with a 5:45 p.m. Marine Corps League Rite, and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church 2935 Kingston Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at the church with Rev. Zenon Maszczyk OFM Cap as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery with full military rites provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Bentivegna was born August 28, 1922, in York, a son of the late Leonardo and Leonarda (Granata) Bentivegna. He started many restaurants in York. Including The Embers, The Seven Cousins, Jackie B's, The Encore and several others. He also was appointed an Administrative Officer at PENDOT for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and fought the major Pacific campaigns including Iwo Jima, GuadalCanal and Guam. He was a member of the American Legion Shiloh Post, the VFW post 556, the DAV, and the Marine Corps League. He was a member of the Sons of Italy. Jack is survived by his wife; children, Dr. Leonard C. Bentivegna, Helena I. Bentivegna, Sandy L. Bentivegna, and Jacqueline A. Redding; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Steve Bentivegna, Vincenzo Bentivegna and the late Charles J. Bentivegna.
