James R. Knappenberger Obituary
MOUNT WOLF James R. Knappenberger, 69, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Diane (Brunner) Knappenberger, whom he married 48 years ago on January 9, 1965. James was born November 12, 1943, in Altoona, and was the son of the late James P. and Arleen (Mattern) Knappenberger. In 1961 he graduated from Lehighton High School and in 1967 he graduated from Penn State University and he remained an avid PSU fan. He was a member of the Hawks Club in York, Penn State Alumni Association, and was active with antique car shows. He also enjoyed driving the 1950 delivery sedan show car for Brimmers. James was affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in York. He was a loving man who enjoyed making people laugh! He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Diane, James is survived by his two sons, James M. Knappenberger and his wife, Jamie of Mount Wolf, and Jeffrey S. Knappenberger and his wife, Heather of Mount Wolf; his four grandchildren, James A., Jensen L., Zachary A., and Parker F.; and his two sisters, Martha Louise Connor of Lehighton and Rae Ann Erickson of Philipsburg. James was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Jane Knappenberger. His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hoover's Cemetery in Starview, East Manchester Township.
