YORK Jean G. Bruns, 90, died at 6:55 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Providence Place, Chambersburg. She was the wife of the late C. Robert Bruns. Born May 17, 1922, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Herman A. and Agnes (Hood) Gronemeyer, she was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, as well as Randolph Macon Women's College. Prior to her marriage she taught high school in Charlottesville, Va. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of York, where she served as a Deacon and Elder, and was also a member of the American Association of University Women, the College Club of York, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Mrs. Bruns is survived by two sons, Robert M. Bruns of Pittsburgh and David A. Bruns of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Peggy B. Walsh of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Hilary Walsh, Daniel Walsh, Andrew Bruns, Ashley Bruns, Joshua Bruns, and Chinwe Bruns; a brother, John H. Gronemeyer of Charlottesville, Va.; and a sister, Elizabeth G. Wise of Charleston, S.C. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, 225 E. Market St., York, with her pastor, The Rev. Dr. John E. Morgan, officiating. A visitation with the family will immediately follow. Private burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
