GLEN ROCK John J. Brenneman, 92, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services, Dallastown. He was the husband of the late Ethel F. (Markel) Brenneman. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday from J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St. New Freedom, with Pastor Larry W. Parlett officiating. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Interment is in Mt. Zion (Potosi) United Methodist Cemetery, Glen Rock, with a flag folding ceremony by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born January 17, 1920, in Glen Rock, John was the son of the late John H. and Clara (Shaffer) Brenneman. John was a member of Friedensal Evangelical Lutheran Church in Seven Valleys, and attended Mt. Zion (Potosi) United Methodist Church, Glen Rock. John was employed by the former Seiling Furniture Company in Railroad for 30 years. He then worked for the former American Machine Foundry in Glen Rock for 10 years, retiring in 1986. John owned and operated his family farm in Potosi from the 1940's to the mid 1980's. John was also a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during WWII in the South Pacific. John is survived by two daughters, Linda Foster, and Willetta Copello and her husband, Charles, all of Glen Rock; four grandchildren, Karla and Lindsay Foster, and Lee and Mark Copello; three great-grandchildren, Lance Altland, and Clayton and Azra Foster; three brothers, Paul, Dale, and Wayne Brenneman; one sister, Fern Warner; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Philip J. Brenneman; three brothers; and four sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion (Potosi) United Methodist Church, Steeple Fund, 10730 Mt. Zion Road, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
