YORK Joseph Robert Eckenrode, 74, of York, entered into the presence of God on Friday, May 9, 2014, from the Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Brenda Lee (Landis) Eckenrode, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. Born on October 19, 1939, in York, he was the son of the late Mattie (Glatfelter) and Joseph R. Eckenrode. Joe honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1964. He retired from Acco Chain as a shipping clerk. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Theresa Moran and husband Marc; a stepmother, Mae Hamme of Spring Grove; a brother, Norman Wertz; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, James L Eckenrode, Carl Wertz, Charles Wertz, Arthur Wertz, Harry Franklin Wertz, Florence Hoffman, June Nott, Mary Farber. A viewing will be on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, Pa. The service will begin at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Bowers officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
