DOVER Kenneth F. Kottmyer, 90, entered into rest at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Emma M. (Paup) Kottmyer. They were married on November 17, 1945 in Maryland. Born June 1, 1924 in Dover, he was a son of the late Charles C. and Kate E. (Thompson) Kottmyer. During WWII, Kenneth served our country in the US Navy as a Coxswain & Gun Captain aboard the USS Concord. He worked as a superintendent of maintenance for Yorktowne Kitchen, retiring in 1986. Kenneth was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, York. He was a lifetime member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791, West Manchester VFW Post 7374 and Disabled American Veterans. Kenneth is survived by a daughter, Karen E. Senft of York; two grandchildren; and a great grandson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly M. Grove; four brothers, Henry J., William (Floyd), Edward S. and Luther C. Kottmyer; and three sisters, Ruth E. Biesecker, Hazel G. Kottmyer and Esther M. Sayers. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Kenneth's funeral service at 11 a.m. with the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Zion U.M. Church, 1030 Carlisle Rd., York. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery, York, where veteran's honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Bruce Fensterbush. Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion U.M. Church, 1030 Carlisle Rd, York, PA 17404.
