DOVER Kenneth R. Peters, 95, formerly of York, died at Providence Place in Dover, on May 5, 2013. He was the husband of Mary E. (Drawbaugh) Peters of Dover. Born March 15, 1918, in Wrightsville, he was the son of the late John K. and Mary E. (Barnes) Peters. Ken was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, where he served in the European Theatre. He received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster and three Bronze Stars. Ken retired as a Quality Control Inspector from the U.S. Army Depot in New Cumberland. He was a 1936 graduate of Wrightsville High School, a member of York First Assembly of God, the Wrightsville Alumni Association and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. In addition to his wife, Ken his survived by a daughter, Darien D. Richardson of Glendale, Ariz.; a grandson and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 10, 2013 at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St. York, with Pastor Danny Haas, his pastor, officiating. Burial with a flag folding ceremony by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Wrightsville. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
