DOVER Larry L. Bixler, Sr., 72, entered into rest at 8:37 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Nancy A. (Sherman) Bixler. The couple observed their 50th wedding anniversary on November 24, 2012. Born June 24, 1940 in Emigsville, Larry was a son of the late Harry B. and Margaret E. (Shelly) Bixler. He was a 1958 graduate of Central York High School and served in the U.S. Army. Larry had 30 years of service as a driver for UPS. He attended Dover Bethany U.M. Church and was a member of Pinchot Park Lions Club, Viking Club, Shiloh American Legion Post 791, Shamrock Gun Club, and Kampfire Kamping Club. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by a son, Larry L. Bixler, Jr. and wife, Juleen of Lewisberry; a daughter, Nichole A. Smyser and husband, Troy of York; and three grandchildren, Matthew A. Smyser, Zachary Bixler and Emma Smyser. He was preceded in death by a brother, Blaine Bixler and a sister, Dorcas Gohn. Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Larry's memorial service at 11 a.m. and the visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Dover Bethany U.M. Church, 4510 Bull Road, Dover. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry, at the convenience of the family. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Salvatore Buonocore.
