YORK Mary Alice Hodgson, 86, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the York Hospital. She was born May 12, 1927 in West York and was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Thomas Hodgson and Mary Caroline (Spangler) Hodgson and sister, Nancy Hodgson Millerman. She was descended from early York county settlers dating back to 1692. Ms. Hodgson graduated from William Penn High School and received her B.A. and Masters degree from Penn State University. She traveled extensively and worked in Japan, South Korea, France, and Germany as civilian Director of Entertainment for the Armed Services. She later served in Washington, D.C., as an administrator for that program. After returning to York, she worked for the YMCA and was an instructor at Penn State York Campus. Her first love was the theater and she was an avid participant in the York Little Theatre. She was a long-standing member of Union Lutheran Church. Mary Alice will be fondly remembered as a fun-loving, caring, and kind woman with a quick wit. She shall be dearly missed by nephew, Thomas Millerman; nieces, N. Elizabeth Millerman Quan and Melinda Millerman Riley; and many cousins including, William Blevins, Carol Sentman (Louis), Sarah Blevins, Michael Blevins, Lynn Kottmeyer (Hank), Donna Halewski (Steve), Roxanne Dubbs (Brad); and all who knew her. There will be no viewing. A service to celebrate Mary Alice's life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St., York. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Judith A. McKee. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to York Little Theatre, 27 S.
