YORK Richard Carroll Dellinger, 89, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Nathalie (Dietz) Dellinger, to whom he was married for 33 years. Born November 6, 1923, in Jacobus, he was the son of the late Bertram G. and Vertie (Geiselman) Dellinger. Richard was an Army Combat veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theatre including the Battles of Leyte Gulf, the Phillipines, and Okinawa. He worked as a designer for the former York International Company and retired after 33 years with the company. He was a 1941 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and attended the former Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Richard was an avid Penn State, Orioles and Flyers fan and spent many hours of his retirement working in his wood shop. He is survived by a daughter, Penelope S. Dellinger of York; two sons, Richard Steven Dellinger of Lancaster and Timothy D. Dellinger of York; three grandchildren, Geoffrey, Jeremy, and Sarah; two great granddaughters, Kylie and Isabel; and 13 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by five sisters, Emma Dellinger, Margaret Hedrick, Charlotte Snyder, Gladys Trout, and Elizabeth Keeney; and a brother, Earl Dellinger. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York with the Rev. Diane H. Wenthe officiating.
