YORK Richard Harry Armold, 87, passed on August 22, 2014. He was the husband of the late Thelma (Utz) Armold. Born on September 9, 1926, in York, he was the son of the late Isabella (Boyer) and Charles Harry Armold. He graduated from Wm. Penn Sr. High School. Mr. Armold was a mechanic for Halls Motor Freight. He honorably served with General George Patton in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Lifetime Member of the East Berlin VFW and the Pleasureville American Legion. "Dick', as he was fondly known, is survived by a son, Terry Armold, wife Pat; grandchildren, Russell Conley, Matthew Armold, wife Tracy, all of York, Eric Armold, fiancee Dana, of Dover, Jason Armold, companion, Jessica Myers, of York, a host of great-grandchildren; and siblings, Charlotte Meyer, Doris Davidson, both of York, Betty Kopp of East Berlin, Phil Armold and wife Nancy of York, Clair Armold and wife Vickie of San Diego, Calif. and their families. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Conley; and brothers, Robert Armold and Kenneth Armold. Viewing will be on Thursday, August 28, 2014, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, PA. The service will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Roland Garvin officiating. Interment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
