NEW FREEDOM Robert F. "Bob" Kline, Sr., 89, died March 19, 2014, at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Viewings will be held 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA. Service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mortuary with military rites by York County Veterans Honor Guard. The Rev. Bill Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Cemetery, Baltimore, Md. Bob was born March 14, 1925, in Sparks, Md., a son of the late Roy D. and Dora K. (Simms) Kline. He was the husband of the late Mary Doris (Dixon) Kline. Bob attended Hereford United Methodist Church and had been a member of the former Parkside Methodist Church, Baltimore. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WW II. Bob retired from Crown Cork and Seal, Highlandtown, Baltimore in 1987 after 41 years of service. He also had been President of Crown Cork and Seal Retirees Assoc. Bob was a former amateur softball umpire for many years with Baltimore City Dept. of Recreation. He enjoyed fishing and being out with nature. Bob is survived by his dear companion, Theresa "Sue" Hoge, New Freedom; son, Robert F. Kline, Jr., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren; three brothers, Benson Kline, Owings Mills, Donald T. Kline, Hereford, and Larry S. Kline, New Freedom; four sisters, Shirley Stahler, New Freedom, Hilda Sims, Chambersburg, Betty Watson, Landsdowne, Md., and Rosalie Weller, White Marsh. He was predeceased by a son, Dennis D. Kline; a daughter, Maryann Joyce; two brothers, William and Franklin Kline; and two sisters, Ellen Kline and Doris Watson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans 3725, Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
