MOUNT WOLF Robert L. Eichelberger, 84, passed away at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Corrine (Anderson) E. Eichelberger, whom he married 61 years ago on January 19, 1952. Robert was born November 8, 1929, in Hanover, and was the son of the late Robert and Margaret (Becker) Eichelberger. He was employed by York Borg Warner. He also worked for PADE for 11 years, and delivered the Auto Locator for five years. He served as Mayor of Terra Alta in West Virginia, and Mayor of Dover, and owned and operated Ikes Portable Welding for five years. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II. He was a Mason and a member of the Zeredatha Lodge 451, a life member of the Hanover V.F.W, Post 2506 and Shiloh American Legion, Post 791; member of York Carvers Association and York and Adams Gun Club. In addition to his wife, Corrine, Robert is survived by his two sons, Michael Eichelberger and his wife, Patti of Strinestown, and Gerald Eichelberger and his wife, LuAnn of York; his two daughters, Debbie Miller and her husband, Gary of Mount Wolf, and Blanche Shue and her husband, Mike of York; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Vicki Moomaw of Mount Wolf and Myrtle Welty of Hanover. Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Blanche Cassiday. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his visitation on Saturday, July 12, 2014, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Services and burial will be private. The family requests no flowers, but would suggest contributions to , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Wounded Warriors Project, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219; or donate blood to the York Hospital Blood Bank in Robert's name.
