WEST PALM BEACH, FL Ronald C. Polk, former Yorker and Attorney in the Federal Public Defender Office in Miami, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was also a Reginald Herbert Fellow with Legal Services of Miami before starting his own practice. A service for Ron was held on January 19, 2013, in Florida. Ron was born in Laurel, Miss., on November 28, 1946, to Esther Bartee (nee Benton-Polk) and Arlisha Jerome Polk. The family moved to Riverside, Calif., where Ron graduated from Riverside Polytech High School, then studied abroad for one year in Turbington, Germany. After returning, he attended Lincoln University in Oxford, Pa. He moved to York and continued his studies at York College of PA. Ron returned to the west coast, graduated from the University of California, Riverside, and earned a law degree from UCLA School of Law. Along with Ron's wife, Mary, their son, Adom J. Polk, and daughter, Rashida K. Polk, all of West Palm Beach, Fla., survivors include his parents and siblings, Jacqueline Polk, Donna Sharp, Richard Polk, and Deborah Polk. His parents and siblings continue to reside in Riverside, Calif., along with his niece, Myesha Sharp, and nephews, Raymond Stovall and Matthew Polk. Ron is also survived by his former wife, Gloria Redman of York; their son, Ronald B. Polk, and grandson, Roman Polk, both of Harrisburg; stepson, Robert M. Webb; and former brother-in-law and colleague, Robert Redman of York. Their daughter, Rosalyn Polk, preceded him in death.
