YORK Thomas "Tom" W. Strickler, 77, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Lola P. (Tharp) Strickler, with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 28, 2014. Mr. Strickler was born in York on September 16, 1936, son of the late Harry and Izetta (Bollinger) Strickler. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Tom was employed as a technical representative for BAE Systems (formerly United Defense), from which he retired in 1999. Memberships include Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, York, Viking Athletic Assoc., West York V.F.W., Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and the Rooster Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his wife, survivors include, four children, Scott T. Strickler and his wife, Lori of Dover, Jody L. Frank of York, Michelle L. Lutz of Dover and Angel M. Mohler of Dillsburg, nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a sister, Dorothy L. Smith of York New Salem. Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2121 Roosevelt Ave., York, PA 17408. Officiating will be his pastor, Skip Nizinski. Burial will be private in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Rescue Mission, York, P.O.
