YORK Victor John Gongola, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, surrounded by his wife, daughters and grandchildren. Vic was the son of the late John and Sophie (Jagodowski) Gongola of Enfield, Conn. His sister, Louise, preceded him in death. A 1958 graduate of United States Military Academy at West Point, Vic served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 22 years of military service. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Joan Gongola, and their children Roxann Mary Henze-Gongola of Leesburg, Va., Susette Marlene Dunlop of Bethesda, Md., and Kathryn Ann Campanelli of Claymont, Del. He had five grandchildren whom he loved dearly. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., York. Internment will be at the convenience of the family at USMA in West Point, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army, Catholic Relief Services or Martin Library (http://www.yorklibraries.org/martin) of York.
