MANCHESTER Wayne G. Schaffer, 71, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley (Fleming) Schaffer whom he married 54 years ago on December 26, 1959. Wayne was born August 25, 1942, in Sunbury and was the son of the late Jacob and Hilda (Gilchrist) Schaffer. He graduated from Trevorton High School in 1961 and attended both Penn State University and York College. He retired in 2005 after 42 years of employment with Fincor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in York Haven and Holy Infant Catholic Church also in York Haven. Wayne was an accomplished musician and enjoyed sharing his talents. In addition to his wife Shirley, Wayne is survived by two sons, Keith Schaffer of Bishopville, Md., and Kurt Schaffer of Lancaster; his daughter, Rita Huber of York; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dean Schaffer of Newfane, N.Y. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. His Funeral Mass will begin at Noon, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 34 Third St., York Haven. Officiating at his service will be Father Edward Malesic.
