YORK William S. Stackhouse, Jr., 71, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at the York Hospital. Bill was born in York on June 5, 1942, a son of the late Ethel (Hobbs) Stackhouse and William Stanley Stackhouse, Sr. He was the owner/operator of Carpets by Stan Stackhouse. He was a 1960 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Bill was also a member of the Shiloh American Legion Post 791. Bill is survived by a daughter, Kelly Weiss of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Matt Stackhouse of York; four grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Alexa, Patrick; two brothers, Joseph Stackhouse, David Stackhouse, both of York; and a sister, Mary Anne Lyon of York. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Keller. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York. Officiating will be the Rev. Frank Miller of Pleasureville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
