FELTON Woodrow C. "Woody" Heffner, 96, entered into rest after a brief illness at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Sandra D. (Stabley) Heffner, whom he married on September 24, 1994, and Odessa R. (Hivner) Heffner, who entered into rest February 19, 1988. He was born in Chanceford Twp., on November 5, 1916, and was the son of the late George W. and Elbie V. (Reisinger) Heffner. He was employed by John Rohrbaugh for 20 years and then worked for the Red Lion Bus Company, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II. Mr. Heffner was a member of the Red Lion VFW Post 1446 and a member of Bethlehem (Stonepile) U.M. Church, Red Lion. In addition to his wife, Sandra, he is survived by a son, Dean L. Heffner and wife, Sandra A. of Red Lion; a daughter, Nan I. Mitzel of West York,; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Penny Reich of Airville and companion, Gary, and Patricia Strausbaugh and husband, Rick of Delta, Ohio; a stepson, Butch Delp of Manchester; eight stepgrandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; a sister, Flo Gohn of Craley; nieces and nephews; and his loving pet chihuahua, Baby Girl. He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. Viewing will be Tuesday, March 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. service, followed by cremation with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A flag folding ceremony will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. His pastor, the Rev. Thomas R. Osenbach, will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to the Felton Fire Company, 63 Main St., Felton, PA 17322.
