RED LION Alan B. Campbell, 66, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, with his loving wife, Diane Markey-Campbell, by his side. Alan was born February 20, 1947, in Berwick, the son of the late Alex H. and Ann J. (Rutskie) Campbell. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Alan will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Pastor Robert Barclay officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1 p.m. until the start of the service. Interment will be private. In addition to his wife, Alan is survived by his stepdaughter, Tammy Schwarz and her husband, Ken of New Port Ritchey, Fla.; grandchildren, Amy Mueller and Ariel Schwarz, of New Port Ritchey; brother-in-law, Timothy Markey and his wife, Tammy of Gettysburg; four nieces, Shannon Johnson and her husband, Dan of Berwick, and Rachel, Sarah, and Samantha Markey, all of Gettysburg; nephew, Austin Markey of Gettysburg; and great-nephews, Riley and Bryce Johnson, of Berwick. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Moore. Alan was a teacher in the South Eastern School District for over 34 years. He was a 1965 graduate of Berwick High School, where he enjoyed participating in cross country. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Shippensburg University and received his master's degree from McDaniel College. During his youth Alan was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout. He coached for various sports at the junior and high school level. He was a basketball referee for the YIAA. He was a member of the Shrewsbury Masonic Lodge #423. His hobbies included auctioneering and sprint car racing.
