YORK Barry L. Markle, 70 of Pine Manor Home, passed away at Rest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, August 16, 2012. He was the husband of Loretta J. (Smith) Markle who passed away April 4, 2010. Mr. Markle was born May 4, 1942, in North Codorus Township, the son of the late Joseph A. and Rosa I. (Folkenroth) Markle. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2012 at Salem Union Church Cemetery, 99 York Road, Jacobus, with Rev. N. Patrick Teaford officiating. Barry was employed by the former Certain Teed Roofing in West York for 20 years and later employed by several local restaurants. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling cross country in the 1980's and had been to all 48 states. He was a graduate of the Spring Grove High School class of 1960. Mr. Markle resided at Pine Manor Home in York for the last eight years and enjoyed hymn sings, and family times and outings. Mr. Markle is survived by seven siblings: Evelyn Thoman of Glen Rock, Jean McLaughlin of Loganville, Ray W. Markle of York, Levere G. Markle of Seven Valleys, Lavern R. Markle of Glen Rock, Doris V. Goodling of Spring Grove and Lynn R. Markle of Dover. He was predeceased by one sister, Miriam Thoman; and two brothers, Carson B. and Jay H. Markle Mr. Markle's family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, Inc., 2449 S. Queen St., York, PA 17402.
