YORK Bernadette M. (Shields) Gutt, 91, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Rest Haven, York. She was the wife of the late Francis M. "Mike" Gutt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Road, York. Burial will be in Holy Savior Cemetery, York. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Mrs. Gutt was born on December 22, 1921, in Renovo, Clinton County, the daughter of the late Fred A. and Mary B. (Schaut) Shields. She was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church where she was a former Eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's Club of York, Young at Heart Group, Patricians over 50 Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Lodge #1530, and A.A.R.P. She volunteered for many years at St. Joseph's Catholic School and the Youth Group of her church. She leaves behind her children, Philip Gutt (Suzanne) of Stuarts Draft, Va., Fred Gutt (Mary) of Dallastown, Thelma Greaves (Fred) of Red Lion, Mary Ruth Brezler (Michael) and JoAnn Dubbs (Ron), both of York, and Judie Melton (Brian Winters) of Roscoe, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Raymond A. Gutt, Robert J. Gutt, and F. Michael Gutt; three sisters; and one brother. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Ignite Youth Group c/o Scott Anthony, 2935 Kingston Road, York, PA 17402.
