ORRTANNA Carolyn Anita (Thomas) Biesecker, 82, died Monday, February 24, 2014, at The Village of Laurel Run. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, J. Kenneth Biesecker, who died in 1988. Born March 18, 1931, in York, she was the daughter of the late Paul D. and Marion (Weitzel) Thomas. She was a member of the Orrtanna United Methodist Church and volunteered for many years with the church's famous chicken dinners. Carolyn had been employed by the former Gettysburg Electric Map, Murphy's 5 & 10 in Gettysburg, and retired after many years of service with Knouse Food Co-op's Orrtanna Plant. She enjoyed her family, visiting Flea Markets, and collecting Hummels and Royal Daltons. Survivors include her two sons, Keith W. Biesecker and wife, Linda of Orrtanna, and Craig A. Biesecker and companion, Nenette of Castro Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren, Chad Biesecker and wife, Andrienne, Sara Biesecker Doyle and husband, Noel, and Brian Biesecker; a brother, Paul Thomas and wife, Alice of York; and a brother-in-law, Dale C. Biesecker and wife, Gretchen of Cashtown. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with her pastor, the Rev. Kim Phillips, officiating. Interment will be in Flohrs Cemetery in McKnightstown. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
