Carroll J. Hash Obituary
STEWARTSTOWN Carroll J. Hash, 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Reuber) Griffith Hash. Funeral services are private at the convenience of the family. Burial is in Centre Presbyterian Cemetery, New Park. The J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc. of Stewartstown is in charge of arrangements. He was born September 22, 1932, in Street (Harford County) Md., a son of the late Charles G. and Rachel O. (Blevins) Hash. Carroll had served our country honorably in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division and in the 101st Airborne Division. He grew up on the family farm in Street, Md., where he attended Highland School. Carroll farmed for several years and later ran a successful contracting business, building new homes in both Maryland and in Pennsylvania. Carroll subsequently worked at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Bainbridge, Md., and with the U.S. Army, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., retiring in 1995. Carroll was an avid bowler, having bowled in many leagues and in both state and national tournaments. He enjoyed collecting farm and garden tractors and implements. In addition to his wife Patricia, he leaves a son, Steven M. Hash of York; a stepson, William A. Griffith, Jr. and his wife Dalynn of Delta; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Bankert and her husband Charles of Fawn Grove; and two granddaughters and three grandsons. Carroll was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. In Carroll's memory, memorial donations may be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
