YORK Charlotte Throne Hively, 95, died at Misericordia Convalescent Home on Friday, March 8, 2013. She was the wife of the late Irvin S. Hively. Born October 17, 1917, in Springettsbury Township, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Iva (Maish) Throne. She retired in 1977 as an Elementary School Teacher for the Central York School District, following 39 years of employment. Charlotte was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Hellam, where she also served as a council member, was a member of the women's group, and was a former Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma (a teacher's organization), the Yorkshire 55+ Club, the York County Retired Teachers Association, the PA State Retired Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and the National Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by two nephews, Robert H. Dietz, Jr. of Mount Wolf and David L. Dietz of New Cumberland; a cousin and caretaker, Ruth Klinedinst of Red Lion; and two cousins, Mary Leiphart and Susan Grothe, both of Red Lion. A burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Mount Zion Cemetery, 3101 Deininger Road, York. Friends and guests should meet at the Deininger Road entrance to the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. Thursday. Following the burial, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church, 180 W. Market St., Hallam, with her pastor, the Rev. Deborah L. Volker, officiating.
