YORK Dale E. Strausbaugh, 88, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Autumn House West. He was the husband of the late Maxine (Oyer) Strausbaugh. Dale was a cement finisher for several contractors, retiring in 1989. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served in England during WWII. He was in 31 bombing missions B-17 and received the Good Conduct, Air Medal, and Distinguished Flying Cross. Dale enjoyed hunting and fishing. Born in York, on August 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Mabel V. (Thoman) Strausbaugh. He leaves three step daughters and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. There will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Greenmount Cemetery. Family and friends should meet at the cemetery office entrance at 721 Carlisle Ave. in York at 10:45 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Wesley S. Mast of Heartland Hospice. Military rites will be performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. The Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St. in York is entrusted with the arrangements.
