YORK Dean Rodney Malott, 80, entered into the presence of God on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, from the Lutheran Home on Sprenkle Drive. He was the husband of Mary Louise (Forry) Malott, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. Born on October 9, 1932, in York, he was the son of the late Dorothy Katherine (Schenck) and Thomas Jefferson Monroe Malott. He graduated from William Penn Sr. High School. Dean served his country honorably during the Korean War Era in the U.S. Navy. He retired from ESAB, formerly Alloy Rods, as a machinst. Mr. Malott was a member of the First Assembly of God, Susquehanna Trail, York. His presence will be deeply missed by his family. In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory two sons, George E. Malott of York County, and Dean R. Malott, Jr. and wife, Tearessa of Virginia; a daughter, Marci Anne Malott of Dover; a stepdaughter, Marsha K. Schaszberger of Shippensburg; a grandson, Cory A. Malott; three stepgrandchildren, Sasha Schaszberger of Mt. Wolf, Timothy Sipe, Jr. of Shippensburg, and Jamie Schaszberger of West Virginia; three step great-grandchildren; two siblings, Janet Olvitt of Wrightsville and Joan Houseal of York; a sister-in-law, Lucille Malott of York; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deanna M. Malott; and three siblings, Thomas Malott, Isabelle Brodbeck, and Dale Malott. A viewing will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First Assembly of God, 2270 Susquehanna Trail North, York. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 a.m. with the York County Veterans Honor Guard performing full military rites. Pastor Danny Haas will be officiating. Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Seven Valleys. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., York, is entrusted with the arrangements.
