YORK Dwight C. "Booky" Bookwalter, 68, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Richmond, Va. Born on March 6, 1944, Dwight was a life-long resident of York, graduated from York High, and retired from York Industries where he was a tool crib manager. Booky was a member of the 12th Ward Democratic Club, White Rose Motorcycle Club and the American Motorcycle Association, as well as the Hawks and Viking social clubs. He loved music, motorcycles, and muscle cars. He was a long-time member of the former Ridge Avenue/ Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Booky delighted in telling stories to family and friends, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, college football, and all types of history. Just prior to his death, he traveled to Jekyll Island, Ga., for the wedding of his niece and was the "life of the party" there - sharing his hearty laughter with his family and meeting many new friends. He loved people and many appreciated his non-judgmental nature, as well as the verbal support he offered them in times of trial. Dwight is survived by his brother, Robert Bookwalter and sister-in-law, Jo, of Dover; his sister, Virginia Bookwalter Prochnow and brother-in-law, Mark, of Kent, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Craig, Laura, Ben, and Katee, their spouses and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He leaves behind his beloved cat, Ani, and a wide circle of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max I. and Erma E. (Jamison) Bookwalter. We will all miss him greatly and cherish his memory.
