COLUMBIA E. Noel Luddy, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 2:20 a.m. at St. Anne's Retirement Community, Columbia. He was the husband of the late Mary Ellen (Nevins) Luddy whom he married in 1942. He was born in Nicholasville, Ky. on December 1, 1917, the son of the late Noel Wolford Luddy and Mildred (Overstreet) Luddy King. Noel had a lifelong love of radio for over 70 years. He built a ham radio set at age 13 and was in Broadcast Radio for 70 years. Noel worked for Radio Station WLAP, RCA and Dielectric Corporations after leaving the Army in 1945. Noel was a WWll veteran and rose to the rank of Major while supervising the radio communications for the Signal Corps for the Pacific Theatre. Noel was a member of the NAB, IEEE and AFCCE in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his children, E. Noel Luddy II and wife Marion, William N. Luddy and wife Susie, and the Rev. Dr. Halley L. Willcox and husband Robert Strotz. He is survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Noel was a loving husband, father and was active in a number of churches. The first viewing will be Friday, January 4, 2013, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 East Market St., York, 17403. On Saturday, January 5th, a viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at Living Word Community Church, 2530 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion 17356. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Steve Almquist and the Rev. Dr. Halley Willcox officiating. Noel will be laid to rest in the Lexington, Ky. cemetery on January 25, 2013 at the family gravesite. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the E.
