MANCHESTER Edison P. Wilt, 84, was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, peacefully, with family by his side from his home. He was the husband of Rebecca (Franklin) Wilt, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. They married on March 10, 1951, in Columbus, Ind. Born on June 10, 1929 at home in Newberry Twp., he was the son of the late Ellen Wilt Garman. Mr. Wilt served his country honorably in the U.S. Army ,enlisting at the age of seventeen. He was stationed in Hawaii and Germany. He retired from the Army National Guard, 131 Transportation Unit out of Williamsport, after 32 years of service. He was a full time mechanic for the PA. National Guard at Indiantown Gap for 22 years. He was a lifetime member of Etters VFW Post #537. He leaves to cherish his memory,his wife Rebecca Wilt of Manchester; children, Edward Rohrbaugh of Bremerton, Wash., Katherine Kitner of York, Robert Rohrbaugh of Bremerton, Wash., Cora Smith of Liberty, S.C., and Edison E. Wilt of York; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Chester Garman, Jr. of Harrisburg, Richard Garman of Manchester, Donald Garman of Dover, Theodore Garman of Seaford, Del., and Ervin Garman of Manchester; and a host of family. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra K. Whitten. A viewing will beheld on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will be performing full military rites at 11 a.m. The Celebration of Life Service will follow, with the Rev. Robert Brown of the Upper Room Missionary Church officiating. Interment will be private. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
